FIVE GENERATIONS
The Carnival business for current Christiansen Amusements President, Ralph E. "Buzz" Christiansen, began nearly seventy years ago with his grandfather and now spans five generations to his grandchildren. Ralph B. Christiansen, Sr. started in the amusement business at Mission Beach Park, CA in the1920s with rides and games. His son and Buzzs father, Ralph B., Jr., continued the Carnival tradition before and after World War II and then formed Christiansen Amusements in1965 with his wife Anna J. (A.J.) and Buzz.
TRULY A FAMILY BUSINESS
Christiansen Amusements is truly a family business. Ralph and A.J. officially retired in 1985 and turned the company over to Buzz and his wife Barbara. Their daughter Stacy works full-time with the company and her husband, Tom Brown is Vice President. Barbara's sister Linda Hinds is office manager. Finally, many a summer day and night you’ll find Buzz and Barb's five grandchildren parading around the grounds, literally soaking up the laughter and excitement of the business that has also been their life. Thankfully, the family truly believes in the company slogan, "Our Business is Fun!"
MORE THAN 80 EVENTS PER YEAR
More than 80 events each year throughout Southern California have Christiansen Amusements as their Carnival entertainment. Whether it’s a City itself, a Chamber of Commerce, a Boys & Girls Club, Kiwanis, High School, Church or any other Civic Organization, the history and commitment of Christiansen Amusements is to provide, quality, safe, enjoyable family fun that is a real value. "I just love to hear the laughter and see the smiles," says Buzz, "and to see people everywhere carrying stuffed animals and prizes tells me they’re having fun and that’s what we’re all about!"
AN ENJOYABLE BUSINESS FOR THEIR FAMILY
Not only is Christiansen Amusements an enjoyable business for their family and the families who attend, but the employees have developed their own extended family amongst themselves. Many have been with Christiansen for five, ten, fifteen and over twenty years. Also, there’s another aspect of his family that includes the relationships which have been built over the 25 and 30 years Christiansen Amusements has been sponsoring events with the same organizations.
